La Crosse hosts the Midwest's longest-running Oktoberfest, known locally as Das Beste, on a dedicated fest grounds on Oktoberfest Strasse. The four-day run is bookended by two parades - the Torchlight Parade on opening night and the Maple Leaf Parade on Saturday morning - and anchored by the Tapping of the Golden Keg ceremony. Wristbands are required Thursday through Saturday, while Sunday is a free family day with games and activities.
